The Position:

The Programme Analyst-Gender Based Violence (GBV) Case Management post is based in UNFPA Bangladesh, Cox’s Bazar office.  S/he shall directly report to the Programme Specialist - Gender, under the overall supervision of the GBViE Team Lead.

Job Purpose:

Gender-based violence (GBV) increases in emergency situations. People affected by natural disasters or armed conflict, who are forced to leave their homes, are subjected to trauma and the breakdown of societal ties and societal norms. Women and girls may be separated from family members and may be exposed to multiple risks of violence. This was also the case in 2017, when around one million Rohingya refugees crossed the border from Myanmar and reached the area of Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Refugees, especially women, and girls, were disproportionately affected by forms and patterns of GBV, including rape, conflict-related sexual violence, intimate partner violence, sex trafficking, and commercial sexual exploitation, child and forced marriages, sexual exploitation, survival sex, and forced engagement in drug and sex trade. Additional challenges for Rohingya women and girls included access to sexual and reproductive health services.

UNFPA, as the lead agency on gender-based violence in emergencies, provides comprehensive gender-based services to Rohingya women and girls, together with partners. The services include GBV case management, integrated health response to GBV as well as psychosocial counseling, and more.

UNFPA Bangladesh is looking for a Programme Analyst-Gender Based Violence (GBV) Case Management to assist in the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of UNFPA interventions for the prevention and response to GBV in Cox’s Bazar, with a focus on GBV case management interventions, across both the refugee and host communities and in line with GBV minimum standards. The incumbent will contribute to a dynamic Gender-Based Violence in Emergencies (GBViE) team and support them in integrating GBV into sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and adolescent and youth (A&Y) programming, and adopt a humanitarian-development nexus approach in programming.
