The new Country Programme is aligned with international and national development goals, including the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as the national priorities of the Bangladesh Seventh Five-Year Plan in the areas of education, health, gender and equality.

The 9th Country Programme also places a special focus on those most left behind, including migrants, urban slum dwellers, refugees, ethnic, religious and other minorities, tea garden workers, adolescent girls, and people living with or at higher risk of HIV.
