We thank Mr. Iori Kato for more than four years service with UNFPA Bangladesh as Deputy Representative, and serving as Representative a.i. in 2017, and led the launch of UNFPA Bangladesh’s substantive humanitarian response. We acknowledge and much appreciate Iori’s contribution to UNFPA’s mandate, the successful implementation of the UNFPA Country programme and our humanitarian response. We wish Iori all the best as he now takes on an assignment as Representative in UNFPA Philippines!
We also extend our warm welcome to our new UNFPA Deputy Representative, Ms. Eiko Narita (national of Japan). Ms. Eiko has served for UNFPA and other UN in different capacities since 2003, most recently as Programme Specialist in UNFPA Regional Office for the Asia Pacific, serving also as a focal point for ASEAN countries. She also served as the Deputy Representative of UNFPA Yemen (2012 – 2014), where she chaired the UN Gender Working Group and Gender-Based Violence sub-cluster under the Inter-agency Standing Committee in an emergency setting. Ms. Eiko holds PhD from Chiba University in Japan on Governance, Master’s degree in Urban Planning from Harvard University and Bachelor’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University.
