In July and August 2024, Bangladesh experienced a significant political shift with the formation of an interim government led by Professor Muhammad Yunus on August 8, following the resignation of the Prime Minister on August 5 amid widespread protests. This transition, coupled with ensuing insecurity and restricted movement, disrupted routine healthcare services, except for the provision of life-saving health services.

Emergency obstetric and newborn care services continued to be provided at all PHCCs, while only 14 (24%) of the health posts remained operational. Service provision, including community health services, significantly improved in September 2024. Additionally, during this period, the SRH WG was unable to conduct its regular meetings in August.
