UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. In Bangladesh, the focus of the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) programme is maternal health, family planning, HIV and STI, carcinoma cervix, gender-based violence and climate change vis-à-vis SRHR. UNFPA Bangladesh has embarked on the 10th Country Programme (2022-2026), the SRH programme which aims at accelerating universal access to SRHR with a focus on leaving no one behind.

According to a 2015 survey, over 70 per cent of married women or girls in Bangladesh have faced some form of intimate partner violence; about half of them say their partners have physically, psychologically or sexually assaulted them.

UNFPA is looking for a highly experienced public health / medical professional with substantive experience of working in the MoHFW, DGHS, HEU, DGFP and DGNM with knowledge of technical and management issues, health policies, working with different NGOs/INGOs, Civil Society, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to fulfil the mandates of UNFPA and support Programme Specialist-SRH.

The Technical Officer will be responsible to provide overall substantive and strategic inputs to conceptualization, results-based planning, implementation and monitoring of UNFPA’s support to the national HIV/AIDS and STIs prevention programme and health sector response to gender-based violence (GBV).
